My couples are so stinking cool, I find myself desperately wanting to be friends with all of them. My job is to notice the beautiful things about them and to learn their story like the back of my hand, so I suppose it's no surprise how deeply invested I get in their wellbeing through this process. I had simply the best time getting to know Morgan & Rhianna. From meeting their dogs at their engagement session to working closely with them throughout their entire planning process, every moment spent with them was a dream.
Morgan and Rhianna were particularly intentional about making sure they were present on their wedding day, with each other but also with their guests. This is always a goal of mine with my couples, but it makes such a difference when the entire day is really crafted to leave time for ease. Their eclectic May celebration was full of color and joy at every turn, along with a lot of frolicking, and it is one of my favorites to look back on. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Details & Getting Ready
First Look & Solo Portraits
Wildflowers were the vibe for this spring wedding, both in Rhianna's bouquet and in Morgan's boutonniere.
I am an absolute sucker for wildflowers.
Rhianna and her dad did a first look in her wedding dress before heading outside to see Morgan for their first look. Their smiles really say it all. One of my favorite parts of first looks is when the couple really gets to show off their wedding attire to each other for the first time. Their was the usual twirling and delight, but the best part of their outfits? They were built to frolic.
Morgan & Rhianna's wedding party consisted of their siblings and respective best friends. This intimate, close-knit group was, without a shadow of a doubt, the most fun I've ever had photographing a wedding party. There was much embracing and leaping, a formal game of slack-jaw, and an overflowing level of joy that I still feel through these images. Bearing witness to the love felt within this group was truly such an honor.
This was one of those ceremonies that left me misty eyed. Morgan and Rhianna's best friends co-officiated their wedding, and all four of their parents did a reading of the couples' selection. They did such a fantastic job including all of their true VIP's and truly customizing their experience to be about their love story, and the personal commitment that they were making to each other. After their moment of celebration, we snuck away to sign the marriage license and really make things official.
Cocktail Hour, Introductions, and Dances
With most of the formalities out of the way, cocktail hour and introductions are infinitely more relaxed. This day felt like a garden party, a gathering of community, and it was simply delightful. Scroll on for more joyful moments.
Golden Hour Portraits
Golden hour portraits were full of smiles and giggles and dancing and the aforementioned frolicking through tall fields. May and June are my favorite months of the year, when everything is fresh and green and blooming and summer still feels new on your skin. Wedding portraits like these make me love these months even more.
Highlights: the tractor, a truly rambunctious rendition of Take Me Home, Country Roads, and a last dance under the stars.
Perfect doesn't actually begin to cover it.
